Our Management Team

Alison Hume and Jim Haines - Directors

Providing a special place for people to be cared for gives us enormous pleasure. We are on-site every week. We know each resident and each staff member. We talk each day about our vision for our residents, discussing ideas and striving to find creative ways of providing the very best care.

Alison is a registered nurse and also audits health and disability services.

Jim has been involved in a variety of business activities before becoming involved with dementia care.

Providing the mentoring and the resources for our team to give loving care is the work we have chosen to do.

Chris Booth – Quality & Systems Manager

Chris came to this role after two years as Operations Manager within our organisation, her strong interest in computers and experience in food safety, health and safety programmes making the transition to the role of Quality System Manager a very natural progression.

Chris’s role is very dependent on the information and support she receives from members of our management team and key staff in all facilities. She relies heavily on their ability to implement new policies within their teams. She periodically visits all our facilities to conduct compliancy audits and review their documentation and generally assess their performance.

Our philosophy and values are something that sets us apart. It is integral part of our quality system, a factor that keeps Chris motivated to achieve the very best possible outcomes for all our facilities.

Simon Hamley – Education Coordinator

Simon has worked as a registered nurse for the past 25 years, most of that in the UK. He loves working in dementia care; each day is different and he strives to get to know each person for who they are, the life they have led and the things they enjoy.

As a nurse, he has always been a teacher, teaching clients and families about health and how to manage health problems. Education is an area that has always given him great satisfaction, as he enjoys seeing staff learn and grow and improve skills. He is always keen to share his experience and knowledge with them.

Len Hodge – Business Support Manager

Len is our Business Support Manager. His principal activity is to assist the directors in business planning and operation.

He is responsible for supporting administration activity and the administration staff effectively. He monitors payroll activities and ensures that all IT resources function effectively. He manages employment issues and related human resource requirements, oversees the completion of ACC audits at each location, and meets the requirements of the QPS benchmarking programme.

Len has vast experience and has worked as operations manager for both Admatha and Avonlea over the past two and a half years. He has a warm and wonderful nature that all staff and residents love.

Donna Jemmett – Principal Clinical Manager

As Principal Clinical Manager, Donna has the privilege of providing clinical support, guidance, supervision and leadership to the Clinical Managers in all our facilities. Donna brings a wealth of wisdom, life experience and clinical expertise to her position, in addition to humour, empathy and a strongly person-centred approach to care. Donna has a passion for caring for vulnerable people with an illness such as dementia, and for sharing her vision of excellence in care with the organisational clinical management team.

Donna’s main priority is to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved for our residents.

 

Vicky Jones – Strategy & Organisational Development Manager

Vicky’s main focus is in identifying, developing and supporting the goals of the organisation at a local and national level through project development, leadership and empowerment of staff.

She has wide experience in the fields of management, PR, media liaison, publicity, counselling, team leading, and caregiving in the demanding and rewarding field of traumatic brain and spinal injury.

Vicky is a people person who believes in the importance of teamwork, positive reinforcement, empathy, energy and humour in all aspects of life. She is passionate about the importance of supporting and mentoring others to overcome challenges and realise their personal potential.

Donya Nee – Vision Development Coordinator

Donya comes from an arts background, combining studies in performing arts, holistic counselling and post graduate studies in community arts management and dance therapy. She employs these talents in her work as a diversional therapist at Admatha and Avonlea, which brings her much happiness.

In addition, Donya works to ensure our vision and values are known within our local community as well as thriving in our unique homes. She also works across all facilities as an instructor for Non Violent Crisis Intervention.

Donya has great passion for the wellbeing of our precious residents and works to ensure their adjustment to home life, their comfort and their happiness. “I aim to embrace the richness of each moment with each person I work with.”

 Lee Andrews – Senior Occupational TherapistLee_Andrews

Lee has worked as a Registered Occupational Therapist for over 30 years. She has come to this role with great passion about working in the area of dementia care having recently spent four years at the Memory Assessment Clinic at The Princess Margaret Hospital, contributing to the assessment and early diagnosis processes.

As well as working in the Health Sector, Lee spent seven years within Tertiary Education employed as a lecturer at the School of Occupational Therapy at Otago Polytechnic, and as an International Student Advisor at the University of Otago. Since returning to Christchurch she continues to volunteer her time as an Executive Committee Member of Alzheimers Canterbury.

Lee’s main role is in development of, and leadership to, the Diversional Therapy staff across all facilities, together with providing an occupational therapy service that enhances the quality of life of our residents.
